Doing What Comes Unnaturally Insight PaperA. The Problem (4:8-11)
"But now that you know God--or rather are known by God--how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles?"
B. The Emotional Plea (4:12-20)
"What has happened to all your joy? ... I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you..."
C. The Illustration (4:21-31)
"...we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman."
Man is born broken. He lives by mending. The grace of God is glue."
Many years ago I was driven to the conclusion that the two major causes of most emotional problems among evangelical Christians are these: the failure to understand, receive and live out God's unconditional grace and forgiveness; and the failure to give out that grace to other people... We read, we hear, we believe a good theology of grace. But that's not the way we live. The good news of the Gospel of grace has not penetrated the level of our emotions."
