Now Concerning Sexual Immorality

"Yet if the unbelieving one leaves, let him leave; the brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God has called us to peace. For how do you know, 0 wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, 0 husband, whether you will save your wife? Only, as the Lord has assigned to each one, as God has called each, in this manner let him walk. And so I direct in all the churches. Was any man called when he was already circumcised? He is not to become uncircumcised. Has anyone been called in uncircumcision? He is not to be circumcised, Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is the keeping of the commandments of God. Each man must remain in that condition in which he was called."

1 Corinthians 7:15-20

Now Concerning Idolatry

"Now concerning things sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge makes arrogant, but love edifies. If anyone supposes that he knows anything, he has not yet known as he ought to know; but if anyone loves God, he is known by Him. Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that there is no such thing as an idol in the world, and that there is no God but one. For even if there are so-called gods whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords, yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him."

1 Corinthians 8:1-6

Now Concerning Holiness

"Devotion signifies a life given or devoted to God. The devout, therefore, are people who do not live their own will, or in the way and spirit of the world, but only to the will of God. Such people consider God in everything, serve God in everything, and make every aspect of their lives holy by doing everything in the name of God in a way that conforms to God's glory."

The Church of Thyatira -- "A Call to Holiness"
Revelation 2:18-29
18...the angel of the church in Thyatira write...
These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze.
1. A Word of Encouragement: 19I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing. more than you did at first.
2. A Word of Correction: 20Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she, misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. 21I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. 22So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. 23I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.
3. A Word of Exhortation: 24Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teachings and have not learned Satan's so-called deep secrets (I will not impose any other burden on you): 25Only hold on to what you have until I come.
4. A Promise: 26To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations -- 27"He will rule them with an iron scepter; he will dash them to pieces like pottery." -- just as I have received authority from my Father. 28I will also give him the morning star. 29He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. (NIV)

Some Questions to Consider

1. Do you believe and do others confirm that your love for and faith in your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is growing stronger every day? Give an example!
2. Do you find yourself tempted to compromise God's view of sexual immorality and idolatry in order to be more acceptable to your non-believing friends? Explain!
3. Are you tempted at times to learn more about "Satan's so-called secrets" than the "deep secrets of God?" When does that happen and how have you been able to resist that temptation?
4. What plans are you now making to remain holy and faithful to the Lord Jesus until He takes you home to be with Him? Explain!
