“He has absolute authority and control over his creation. In order to be sovereign God must also be all-knowing, all powerful and absolutely free. If He were limited in any one of these areas, He would not be entirely sovereign. The doctrine of the sovereignty of God is the doctrine that gives meaning and substance to all other doctrines.”

James Boice,
Foundations of the Christian Faith,

When you think of God, what do you see?
God is sovereign ...

... in Creation
“Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” (Mark 4:41)

... in History
“there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries.” (Daniel 2:28)

... in Salvation
“God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions.” (Ephesians 2:4,5)

... in Our Lives
“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)

Life Response:
what does this mean to me?

A realization of Godís sovereignty...
1. deepens our worship of the living God.
2. comforts us in the midst of trials, temptations or sorrows.
3. produces encouragement and joy in evangelism.
4. gives us a deep sense of security.
