God promised Israel that they should look for His Prophet for he would put His words in His mouth and they should listen to Him. (Duet. 18:15-19) That Prophet of God became the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 3:22-26). In Him was life and that life was the light of men. The light that shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it...the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have see his glory, the glory of the One and only who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:4-5) Until God’s prophet came to this earth, He used many faithful prophets over the years to speak to His people about His grace and truth in the midst of dark and corrupt world. Elijah was just such a prophet who was sent to Israel by God. He was used of God to encourage the faithful and to shine the light of grace and truth into the dark spiritual world of King Ahab and his evil queen Jezebel who were drowning in a sea of idolatry and trying to take God’s people with them.
