You Know you have entered into spiritual idolatry when you find yourself trusting in anyone or anything beside the one and only living God as revealed in Jesus Christ. Only Jesus can provide protection in the midst of a corrupt society, provision in the midst of a potential famine, and truth and life in the midst of lies and death. To trust in anyone but God as revealed in Jesus Christ only leads to spiritual darkness and drought within one’s soul and spirit. Those false gods and goddesses only provide enough room to allow us to destroy ourselves with fear, anger and anxiety. The apostle Paul admonished the Corinthians in Greece who had been redeemed by Jesus from an idolatrous society to avoid the temptation to be drawn back into the doctrine of demons. "We know that an idol is nothing at all in the world and that there is no God but one." (1 Corinthians 8).
