Jesus told his disciples the night before he was betrayed by Judas “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) Troubles have a way of showing up in our lives in such a variety of ways that at times we can become overwhelmed because we have no control over them. Those troubles can effect our physical, emotional, and spiritual well being which in turn leads to a case of spiritual blindness. That blindness shuts off the light of the knowledge of our Lord’s presence, love, and sovereign power over our lives. In our state of blindness we are easily lead by Satan to go down a path of depression and at times to the blind of suicide. Elijah, the great prophet of God, faced some of the same problems many of us face in times of trouble. But be encouraged, for our loving God promised to never forsake us. His eternal presence, love and power will be wonderfully illustrated as we see Him lead his prophet out of a pit of depression and back into abundant life.
