1. Pray that God's Word would Spread - 3:1
2. Pray that God will deliver us from Satan - 3:2
3. Pray that God will keep us Faithful - 3:3-5

Context: Paul had written two letters of encouragement and admonishment to his spiritual children living in the port city of Thessalonica located on the North Eastern shore of Greece. (Acts 17:1-15) In his 2nd letter the apostle (1) expressed his delight at their spiritual growth, (2) he sought to clear up their misunderstanding concerning the "day of the Lord", (3) he reminded them that God chose them for salvation before the foundation of the world and He will give them the strength necessary to do good works and speak good words while they watch for the invisible 2nd coming of Jesus for His Bride.

In 2 Thess. 3:1-5 Paul encouraged his spiritual family that the strength they needed to cope with their current persecution from the Jewish leaders and Greek idol worshippers would only come from God as they bowed before Him in prayer.

1. Pray that God's Word would Spread - 3:1

"Finally, brothers pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you."

How would you define the word "Prayer"?

Do you have members of your family and/or a group of friends whom you depend upon to pray for you?Can you name a few?

Do you commit yourself to pray that "the message of the Lord may spread rapidly"?Do you pray to the Lord that His word will spread rapidly through you or some evangelist, or missionary group or all the above?Explain!

How have you seen the word of God "honored"?

2. Pray that God will deliver us from Satan - 3:2

"And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith."

Are you aware of any "wicked and evil" people around you at this time in your life? How do you deal with them when they try to stop you from spreading the Word of God?

Do you turn to the Lord to deliver you from wicked people or do you try to deliver yourself?

Have you had some one tell you that they believed in Jesus as their Lord and Savior but now have walked away from that faith? Do you believe they were authentic disciples of Jesus? How do you deal with them now?

3.Pray that God will keep us Faithful - 3:3-5

"But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance."

Have you recently found the Lord Jesus to be faithful in your life?

How has Jesus "strengthened and protected" you from Satan?

Are you depending on the power of the Holy Spirit to keep the commands of our Lord Jesus or are you depending on your religious flesh?

Prayer: "The purpose of all faith takes us into direct, personal, vital touch with God. True prayer is an awareness of our helpless need and an acknowledgment of divine adequacy. For Jesus, prayer was as necessary as breathing, the very breath of life."
