The story of Daniel is one of the most famous autobiographical chronicles in all literature. Written in the 6th century BC, Daniel predicted future events with such astonishing accuracy that scholars today are still mystified at his prophecies. But Daniel was more than a prophet; he was a statesman who was given access to the highest levels of world government and yet stood his ground when his faith was challenged. Like an Old Testament Billy Graham, he persevered through the reigns of numerous kings and kingdoms in the ancient world, and saw things no man had ever seen.
The stories in Daniel are so famous that they still resonate in our cultural imagery; who hasn't heard the phrase "the handwriting's on the wall", or seen pictures of a "lions' den" or a "fiery furnace"? Full of cliffhanging adventure and mind-blowing predictions, Daniel spells out a future full of God's plans.
