In this series we take a closer look at what God is like, that we might know Him, enjoy Him, and trust Him with our lives. Join us!
Francis Schaeffer pointed out that while the gods of the ancient western world (the Greeks & Romans) were personal but limited, and the gods of the east (Hinduism & Buddhism) were infinite but not personal, the God of the Bible is the only personal-infinite God. And the good news is - He wants to be known! He has revealed Himself so that we can not only know what He is like, but that we can enter a personal relationship with Him, in which we grow to know Him better and better.
The Bible describes God's many-faceted character, and theologians have called these the "attributes" of God. They range from those things that boggle the mind and stretch the imagination -- like His eternity, infinity, invisibility, holiness, omnipresence, omniscience -- to those things that we can grasp more easily -- like His grace, mercy, wisdom, righteousness, justice and love.
